Rin Chat — License

Copyright (c) 2026 Rin Chat LLC. All rights reserved.

Rin Chat is proprietary software, provided free of charge for personal, non-commercial use.

You may:
  - install and use the application on devices you own or control;
  - back up, export, and freely use the content you create with it (your
    characters, chats, worldbooks, and settings are yours).

You may not:
  - redistribute, sell, rent, or sublicense the application or modified
    versions of it;
  - reverse engineer the application except where applicable law permits it
    notwithstanding this restriction;
  - remove or alter its notices of authorship.

A package manager or distribution may publish a recipe that downloads the
official release from rin.chat and adapts it to run on their system, for
example by patching library paths or adding a wrapper, only with prior written
permission from Rin Chat LLC. Ask first through our contact page. Users who
install Rin Chat through a permitted package are covered by this license.

Rin Chat LLC may also give a package repository written permission to host and
redistribute the builds its recipe makes, for example from its binary cache and
mirrors. Those builds must come from the official releases published at
rin.chat, changed only as needed to run on that system, for example by patching
library paths, adding a wrapper or turning off the in-app updater. This license
and its notices of authorship must stay intact, and the app's usage reporting
must not be removed or changed. The permission covers only the repository it is
given to, and Rin Chat LLC may withdraw it for future versions at any time.
Without that permission, no one but Rin Chat LLC may host or redistribute the
software.
